David Bowles is a Mexican-American author and translator from south Texas, where he teaches at the University of Texas Río Grande Valley. He has written over three dozen award-winning titles, most notably They Call Me Güero and My Two Border Towns. He translates to and from Spanish. Francisco Montaña Ibáñez’s The Immortal Boy, which he translated, was named a GLLI Translated YA Book Prize Honor title; and his translation of María Garcia Esperón’s The Sea-Ringed World: Sacred Stories of the Americas, was awarded a Batchelder Honor and was the winner of the 2022 International Latino Book Award for YA Translation.
