David Boyd – Japanese

David Boyd is assistant professor of Japanese at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His co-translation with Sam Bett of Mieko Kawakami’s Heaven, about the bullying of a 14 year old, was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. He has translated eight picture books for Enchanted Lion Books, including five in Kaya Doi’s Chirri & Chirra series and two highly-regarded collaborations between poet Hiroshi Osada and illustrator Ryōji Arai.
