A chance meeting in 2011 with a children's author at her daughter's Italian primary school inspired Denise Muir to focus on literary translation, with a special interest in children's books. Nine years later, The Distance Between Me and the Cherry Tree was named a Batchelder Honor Book. She has translated YA novels, multiple picture books, and several illustrated children's texts on, among other things, world history, international folklore and world culture, the human body, evolution, philosophy, Europe, and a scary amount of books about dragons, dinosaurs and other fantastic beasts.
