Elisa Amado is a native of Guatemala who now lives and works in eastern Canada. In addition to writing stories for the early grades based upon her own multicultural experiences, she has translated children’s books by Spanish and Zapotec authors since 1999. Her translation of José Jorge Letria’s War won the 2019 Nami Concours prize, was included in the 2022 USBBY Outstanding International Books list and was named a 2022 Boston Globe-Horn Book Honor Book Award for Picture Books.
