Emily Balistrieri is an American translator based in Japan. His translations for children include Eiko Kadono's Kiki's Delivery Service and Shaw Kuzki's Soul Lanterns. In 2023, he was a finalist for the PEN Translation Prize with his translation of Tomihiko Morimi's The Tatami Galaxy. In addition to novels and picture books for all age ranges, he has translated manga such as Ui Kashima's I Belong to the Baddest Girl at School and Oto Toda's To Strip the Flesh, games such as The Witch's Isle and Japanese Rural Life Adventure, and the subtitles for Takahide Hori's film Junk Head.
