In addition to the physical collection of 40,000 books, art studio and on-site collection of original artwork, Worlds of Words (WOW) maintains a website with many useful resources for building bridges between cultures, These include a searchable database, critical reviews in English (WOW Review) and Spanish (WOW Libros), strategies for evaluating culturally authentic international children’s and adolescent literature, and vignettes showing how students engage with these books in classrooms and libraries (WOW Stories). Regular features include a topical booklist of 12 global titles (WOW Dozen). All this is excellent for global youth literature collection development, but note especially the section “Globalizing K-12 Reading Lists of Children’s and Young Adult Literature” which offers global book lists of recommended fiction and nonfiction books organized by themes within K-12 grade level bands and updated annually.
